[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hello Everyone

Planting out all the little cherry & round tomato plants has been the new thing this week. We had to wait for the frosts to be well gone and the ground itself has warmed up enough to plant the tomatoes. This has been a long winter in terms of cold ground although we are a couple of weeks later than we meant to be!

So we have been making the beds, putting in the irrigation and composting the trenches. Then running water through just enough to mark the exact spot where the water will keep the plant alive. Then marking that spot with a little bamboo stake and planting the tomato plant. Missing the water by a centimetre or two and the plant will definitely die. I think, at 35C+ out there all day, the workers felt like wilting! They have to drink heaps too![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid style=”lazy” item=”masonryMedia_Default” grid_id=”vc_gid:1445517487152-1c2f2293-14eb-3″ include=”2527,2531,2532,2533,2534,2529,2530,2528″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Shortly we will be selling Bill Pinto’s beautiful Roma tomatoes grown under plastic from his poly-tunnels.

Wednesday night we had a small drop of welcome rain invigorating the leaves so picking some salad this morning was wet but much more pleasant. The baby tomato plants have settled right in.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid style=”lazy” element_width=”6″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1445517809044-133b849d-eec0-2″ include=”2536,2537,2538,2539,2540,2541,2542,2543″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Make sure you don’t miss us at either on Saturday at Carriage Works and Taylor Square markets in Sydney and Sunday at Peats Ridge Community Hall, Peats Ridge Road, 2250 (Mangrove Mountain Community Markets) where there will be all the usual salad greens, mustards, Horta weeds mix,  rocket etc.

Of course there is plenty of succulent chard and kale. Bill Pinto’s cucumbers are absolutely delicious.

Jean’s (from  Tuckaflora) shatoots – Persian white mulberry – are now ready. Remember them from last year?  Exquisite!  But come early – they run out the door![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2544″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Have a healthy, happy week.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
