[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Spot the Moth

Hello Everyone

We had a very wet week and now some very hot days so anything that can hatch has done so in the insect world! Everything is on the move and although I haven’t got a photo, 2 sightings of a 2m goanna looking for food!

Consequently we have resorted to using DiPel  DF, commonly known as BT, to control the caterpillars of the cabbage white which are busy munching away the bok choy and kale! BT stands for bacillus thuringiensis. It controls lepidopteran caterpillars by giving them a bacterium that is naturally occurring. It doesn’t harm beneficial predators or mite predators. It’s a BFA registered product.

Michael tried to photograph the moths busy on the plants but they were camera shy! See if you can find the caterpillar![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2684″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2683″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The weather has to be dry so here’s Michael spraying after 7.30 last night when there’s no sun.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”2687,2690,2698,2701″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Do you remember on 10th September the blog was called ‘Spring Cleaning the Blood Oranges’? The ground underneath the blood oranges was mowed, mulched and the trees pruned and trunks and main branches were painted? First photo, ten weeks ago.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”2705,2686,2675,2674,2676″ img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Serkan got into battle gear to brush cutter round the trees this week. The grass was a metre high! The finish, cut, but still needs re-mulching![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sydney markets at Carriage Works and Taylor Square will have all the lovely lush greens as usual on Saturday morning. The weeds, sold as Horta mix and separately when requested are really flourishing. They love this warm, wet weather and good soil. We are double washing all the greens as the tiny snails also love this weather. Here’s some vetch & washed weeds.
