This should be the last week of shortages resulting from that last sun-scorching heat wave and we have now caught up as the seedlings planted since then are flourishing well. Lettuce on the left you can see is just great.
On the right the leaves of the blood orange trees very poorly with the dry weather, in fact the trees as a whole are looking droopy. They have no watering system and would have to be hand watered but there’s only so much water and time.
Now, Valentine’s Day tomorrow so how about red produce for the love of your life? A red salad on Saturday as an add-on to Friday? Mmmmm! Who wouldn’t appreciate a non-fattening, healthy demonstration of their affection through food?
Fabulous cherry tomatoes, as fresh as you can get, amaranth leaves, red banana capsicum and whatever else takes your fancy!
The amaranth is so tiny when planted as you can see from the size of my hand! It’s delicious in salads. We sell it as part of the Horta mix as there hasn’t been the demand for it on its own.
Here’s more amaranth six weeks older and so ready to pick.
All the usual greens, vegies and fruit will be on both stalls at Taylor Square & Eveleigh on Saturday. Be early so as not to miss out on anything.
Happy & healthy eating,
